Our
History
Herfsland was built by the municipality of Kempton Park to care for frail and semi-frail seniors. The management of the Home was referred to the Dutch Reformed Church in 1985. In 1996 Herfsland built 30 Life Right Units on its premises and added another 13 in 2003. An outreach programme for the elderly in Tembisa through a luncheon club was started in 1998. In 2014, Tutela (the service arm of the Dutch Reformed Church) approached Herfsland to manage the Huis Senior in Birchleigh which provides independent accommodation for active older persons.
Herfsland is only one of two old age homes in Kempton Park that is registered with the Department of Social Development.
